Installation
Lamp, wood
and gold leaf
170 x 120 x 4 cm

A series of wooden fragments partially or fully covered with gold leaf, illuminated by a light source placed beneath the pieces.
The luminescence evokes, as we contemplate fragments of light — street lamps or fireflies — a constellation that forms as our gaze moves across the night horizon.
The presented elements shape a landscape of a similar phenomenon, where brightness and the texture of shadows interact. Éclat is a French word I found in a thesaurus, which can mean shine, splinter, or explosion, depending on the context. In the installation, the delicate interplay between the splinters, their gleam, and their somber "bursts" synthesizes some of the meanings and materializes a poetic device of the French term.
