Cecília Lima
Improvisation No. 3
2020
Installation
Wood and charcoal
Variable dimensions

The installation Improvisation No. 3 is built with sticks and charcoal pieces supported against each other, without any glue or screws. I started by collecting some charcoal from the remains of bonfires and later bought others, which were also cut and sanded. The sticks were gathered from the leftover materials of a woodworking shop in the city of Olhos D'Água, Goiás, Brazil.
The composition emerged through trial and error, from the possibilities of precarious balance using the weight and small fittings of the charcoal pieces. After many tests, the structures began to form from at least three points of contact, so they could stand without falling. It is a work that has its own rhythm and various composition possibilities within the same group.
