Installation
Tile shards, gouache paint, and gold leaf
Variable dimensions

Installation consisting of pieces of broken tiles whose edges are painted with golden paint. One afternoon in the studio, seeking shelter from heavy rain, a lightning strike hit a tree, splitting it into two parts. One of the parts fell on the building where I had been working minutes before. Disaster. After the event, I returned to the studio during its renovation; I collected and stored the remains of the roof. Kintsugi, the name of the ancient Japanese technique for reconstructing broken ceramics using gold powder, is an attempt to propose other relationships of protection and care for that structure that sheltered me from the winds and strong sun. Beyond the affection for these pieces, the assembly of the work aims to configure other modulations of these elements among themselves.
